For over a decade, Avalon School has pioneered two separate, powerful models of education: a Project Based Learning curriculum and a Teacher-Powered governance model. We strongly believe that these two aspects have the capacity to change education, and we are eager to share our experience.

Avalon is now offering an array of professional development services, from short, student-led tours to longer immersive experiences. Working with the Minnesota Learner-Centered Network (MLCN), Avalon hosts several formal immersive site visits a year.  To learn about those site visits (and those offered by other Learner-Centered environments), visit the MLCN School Visit Page.

Interested in learning more about either Project-Based Learning or our Teacher-Powered School?  Come give us a visit!

We currently offer two ways to see Avalon in action:

Join an already scheduled tour for prospective families. While not tailored to your specific needs, this offers a nice way to see our program in action!  To sign up, visit our Enrollment section.

Join one of our monthly educator tours on Wednesday mornings (8:40-11:00am).  Shadow a teacher, get questions answered by staff directly, and speak with a short student panel.  Visits can be tailored to focus on either our Project-Based Learning approach or our Teacher-Powered Governance model.

Visit Dates (all Wednesday, 8:40-11am):

  • November 15th
  • January 24th
  • February 21st
  • March 20th

Suggested Fee Structure:

-1-3 visitors: $200

-5-10 visitors: $500

-10-15 visitors: $750
