Congress
“Congress is a legislative body of students that convenes twice a week to discuss important issues within the Avalon community, propose resolutions, and organize initiatives. Congress provides students with the opportunity to voice their opinions and share their thoughts regarding the community. Through Congress, students can make real changes in the Avalon School and community by writing bills and organizing committees. All students and visitors are welcome and encouraged to visit Congress.”
In the past Congress has…
- Organized a Staff Appreciation Day
- Published an editorial in a local newspaper discussing the importance of charter schools
- Organized a weekly lunch clean-up crew
- Given students the option to eat lunch in the café
- Revised the open lunch policy
