Laura Savin
Laura Savin is currently a member of the Avalon Board. She is the mother of two Avalon alumni, Ben, who started at Avalon during its first year of existence and is now a pre-school teacher and Sam, now a junior at Goucher College in Baltimore studying history. She is passionate about education and about Avalon. Laura attended the University of Minnesota and Hamline Law School. (In high school, she survived by doing as many independent study projects as possible, creating her own personal Avalon-like experience.) She is now the executive director of the foundation at Saint Paul College – a community and technical college. She and her husband Jon live in St. Paul.
Tara Tierney
Tara works in Corporate Communications for Twin Cities-based Land O’Lakes, Inc., a national, farmer-owned food and agricultural cooperative, and serves as a key resource for Land O’Lakes communications vehicles, including: newsletters, inter/intranet, magazine, press releases, presentations, video production and social media. Prior to working for Land O’Lakes, Tara supported technology clients for Weber Shandwick, a Minneapolis-based public relations agency. She received her Bachelor’s in Journalism from University of Wisconsin at Madison, with a minor in African Studies, and is currently pursuing her M.B.A. at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business. In her spare time she enjoys spending time on the St. Croix River and doing projects around her house in Hudson, Wis.

Regina Goldner
In 2005, Avalon School was introduced to Regina Goldner. She was enthusiastic about math, thought the co-op model was a great fit for her, and was ready share her love of project-based learning with everyone. Regina has a BA from Fairhaven College with a concentration in Environmental Justice and Social Liberation. She is just as proud of her Masters in Education from the University of Minnesota and knows that teaching is the job of her dreams and Avalon the school which she loves. She is also the board treasurer, and is seeking her second 5-year term.
